However, one of our trained dentists will require the tooth removed in some more severe cases. Therefore, for the state of your oral health, extraction is the best practice for damaged or infected teeth.
Patients with extreme tooth pain or experiencing failed root canal treatment typically undergo this procedure.
More reasons include the following:
- Decay or infection has reached the pulp of the tooth
- Injury or trauma
- Wisdom teeth (third molars) are removed when new ones begin to grow
- Baby teeth hadn’t fallen in time for permanent ones to grow
- Not enough room is required for new teeth to grow
Other patients suffering from periodontal disease may require tooth extraction as teeth can become loose and, therefore, vulnerable to infection.
