Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable clear trays –called aligners– that you change every 7, 10 or 14 days for the next set of aligners.
Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you gradually replace each aligner, your teeth will gradually move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed on the initial simulation called a ‘clincheck
At Maida Smiles, we know how important this investment of time and money in your smile can be for anyone who needs to have teeth straightening work carried out.
An initial virtual consultation can allow you to meet our practitioner, discuss what type of invisaling treatment may be right for you and the outcome you desire as well as have any questions you may have about treatment easily answered but a professional.
Some patients may require booking a clean (hygiene) to ensure the tooth and gum surfaces are clear and healthy allowing for the best base in order to do straightening. Any fillings and other conventional dental work may be also performed to prepare your teeth for treatment.
Next, with our state of the art Itero Scanner we will be able to digitally scan your teeth and even show you an immediate before and after mock up of your potential smile. Once you are happy to go ahead and organised your easy payment plans such as free financing or in house payment schedule we will send you a virtual 3D treatment plan.
With it you will see a video that will show the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see beforehand what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. Once you have had a chance to look at the changes your teeth will go through, your custom-made, clear aligners are manufactured especially for you and sent to the dental practice.
Virtual care is the latest app which is free to download and will allow you to lease with your invislaing dentist whilst you continue treatment from the comfort of your own home.
Review appointments will be booked in advance every 6-8 weeks depending on the length of your treatment plan and any auxiliary techniques the dentist needs to implement throughout your treatment such as introducing elastics, new attachments etc.
At the end of your treatment you will Go over all your retainer options again. Vivera retainers are the removable retainers from Invisalign that come in 3 sets and will help to maintain your new smile. You can also decide to have fixed wire retainers bonded to the back of your from teeth in either silver or gold that will also aid the maintenance of your straight smile for many years to come. The combination of the two options of retainers are ideal.
Your first appointment will be to discuss your treatment and often involves taking x-rays and photographs. During this initial patient consultation we will set out a specific treatment plan to best suit your individual case and answer any questions you might have.
A relatively simple minor surgical procedure is performed under sterile conditions in the dental surgery under local anaesthesia and, if indicated, supplemented by conscious sedation.
Although some implants can be loaded into function immediately, or soon after surgery, it is often suggested that a period of three months or more be allowed for the implant to fully integrate before placing the tooth restoration on top of the implant.
Once integrated, the implants may need to be uncovered and can be brought into function with a variety of restorations, ranging from a single crown, small or large bridge, or, if preferred, a removable overdenture clipped to the implants.
Following the completion of implant treatment, patients need to clean thoroughly around the implants, as instructed by the Oral Hygienist. They should attend their dentist for regular review so that the health of the soft tissue, bone levels and the integrity of the restoration can be checked.

Many people find braces are easier to manage, because they don’t need to be removed when eating or drinking. This is a better option for patients who are less inclined to stick to the routine of removing and reinstalling the Invisalign aligners after each meal.
If daily commitments are not your strongest suit, we recommend you opt for traditional braces.
So, which one is best?
The truth is, when comparing braces vs Invisalign, it’s a close race. Both of these treatments are highly personalized and the choice depends entirely on you.
One thing is for sure, all of our patients here at Maida Smiles deem orthodontic treatment an investment worth making.
