
How Is PRF Made?
How it works
The PRF is obtained by collecting a blood sample from the patient’s arm immediately before the dental treatment intervention and placing it into a centrifuge that separates the collected blood into three layers:
- 1) Clear liquid, also called plasma layer
- 2) Red layer rich in red blood cells
- 3) Yellow thick layer: the PRF portion
The thick PRF layer is rich in growth factors, platelets, fibrin and circulating stem cells. In addition, the fibrin network is composed of leukocytes and cytokines. All of these play a significant role in inflammation regulation and fighting infection.
