A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth, and it holds a crown, bridge or denture in place. Single implants at Maida Smiles start from £2,500, including the abutment and crown, and your first step is a consultation, so you know your own plan and cost before anything begins.
Dental implants suit adults who have lost one or more teeth, have healthy gums and have enough jawbone, or are willing to have bone built up first. They are not the only route. A bridge or a denture can also replace missing teeth, and the right choice depends on your mouth, your budget and how you feel about each option. Our fee guide lists dental bridges at £1,050 per unit, acrylic dentures from £1,050 and cobalt chrome dentures from £1,250, so you can compare them with implants before your visit.
If you have gum disease, it will usually need treating before any implant is placed, and smoking can slow healing. Your dentist will go through your medical history and your habits at the consultation. That conversation is better had in person than guessed at from a web page, which is why we start every implant plan with a consultation rather than a quote over the phone.
Dental implants are one of the main ways to replace missing teeth without relying on neighbouring teeth, and they are the main reason many of our patients travel to us from across London. According to the NHS, an implant is a fixture placed into the jawbone that holds a replacement tooth, and it needs enough healthy bone and healthy gums to be placed.

We do not promise a particular result or timeline. Your dentist will tell you plainly whether implants are right for you, and if another option such as a bridge or denture suits you better, we will explain that too.

An implant consultation is a first appointment to look at your mouth, discuss which teeth are missing and what you want, and decide whether implants suit you. It is also where you find out how many visits to expect, so you can plan your travel and time off work. You can read the detail of what happens at an implant consultation.
Your dentist will check your teeth, gums and bone. A 3D CBCT scan is a scan that shows the depth, width and density of the jawbone, which helps to plan where an implant can go. Our fee guide lists CBCT at £175 per arch, and you can see how CBCT scans work. If bone is thin, a bone graft or sinus lift may be discussed first.
The fee guide shows a dental implant consultation at £115, which is taken as a deposit and refunded when you attend, and a free consultation with a treatment coordinator is also offered.
Implants are placed under local anaesthetic. After placement the jaw needs time to heal around the implant, which can take several months. Our consultation notes give a healing gap of roughly three months, and say osseointegration can take three to eight months. Most of that time you do not need to be at the clinic, which matters if you are travelling in from Paddington.
Follow up appointments are scheduled 7 to 14 days after placement, according to our aftercare advice, and any stitches are removed at that visit. Our implant aftercare notes list the cold drinks, soft foods and mouthwash advice for the first days.
Once healing is complete, the final crown, bridge or denture is fitted. For one missing tooth, a single implant and crown is the usual route, and you can read more about single dental implants. Your dentist will explain the exact stages and the number of visits when they plan your treatment.

We offer 0% finance over 12 months, arranged through dental finance, so a £2,500 single implant works out at £208.33 a month over 12 months at 0% APR, according to our costs breakdown. Finance is subject to status, and we act as a credit broker, not a lender. Without finance, our costs breakdown says 50% is paid up front and the rest three months after healing.
Maida Vale is on the Bakerloo line, and Paddington is two stops away through Warwick Avenue. From Maida Vale tube station, the clinic is a two minute walk. If you drive, paid parking is available through ParkBee on Lanark Road, the road next to the practice.
The journey is a short tube ride rather than a long trip across the city. Many patients combine the visit with work or a commute home, and we are open until 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Many patients from Paddington work nearby or commute through the station, so we plan visits with travel in mind. Treatment is made up of a handful of appointments spread across several months, with the longest gap being the healing period, when you usually do not need to be at the clinic.
A practical approach is to ask about a Tuesday or Thursday evening, when we are open until 8pm, or a Saturday, then take the Bakerloo line home.
