As teeth whitening is known to cause sensitivity, patients must undergo a check-up before receiving any whitening treatment.

This is so we can examine your teeth and gums beforehand and ensure they’re healthy enough for treatment—this is particularly important if you have any existing restorations like crowns.

On top of this, as at-home whitening requires patients to wear a tray, we’ll need to take your impressions so your own clear, custom tray can be ordered and made to ensure the product is distributed correctly and evenly.

Why is in-chair whitening more expensive than at-home kits?

In-chair whitening with our cosmetic dentists is more expensive than whitening privately at home.

This is because we use stronger bleaching agents, allowing for more dramatic results in a shorter time, which requires additional supervision of a dentist.

In-chair whitening is more immediate, fast-acting, and powerful, whereas at-home whitening will typically involve wearing a tray for a set amount of time daily.

In-chair whitening at the dental office is more expensive because:

It achieves faster and more immediate results (home kits can take a few weeks).
The dentist can tailor treatment then and there to improve results and reduce sensitivity.
It’s more effective for removing stubborn stains and is applied more evenly.
The effects last longer (up to three years) with regular touch-ups and correct aftercare.

Purchasing top-up kits

Once you’ve finished your whitening treatment with us, and the results have started to fade after 12 months, you can purchase a top-up whitening kit from us for a reduced rate (£275), which we might even be able to post to you.
