We offer several tooth-whitening products and explain how their methods differ so you can find the right one to suit your lifestyle.

Different types of procedures

Types of teeth whitening products

Are you considering opting for tooth whitening but want to learn more about the procedure and process first? No problem. You can whiten your teeth with one simple trip to the dentist or from the comfort of your home. Let’s explore the benefits and process for both.

Guide to the teeth whitening procedure (questions answered)

How long the tooth whitening procedure takes

Depending on the brand and method we choose, the extent of the tooth’s discolouration can dictate how long tooth whitening takes to work.

That said, patients can expect at-home whitening kits to whiten teeth up to 7 shades within 7-14 days, depending on the type of kit. Opting for in-chair dental solutions can speed up results, with teeth appearing 7 shades whiter within an hour.

How effective is professional whitening compared to over-the-counter products?

Over-the-counter whitening products like strips, toothpaste, or gels might often be less expensive than professional treatments; however, their effectiveness can vary.

As they contain lower concentrations, over-the-counter whitening agents produce less noticeable results than professional-grade treatments. Patients should be careful using over-the-counter products as there is a higher risk of misuse or improper application without the supervision of a dental professional, which can damage the teeth, produce uneven whitening, or cause tooth sensitivity.

Professional tooth whitening procedures performed by a dentist offer several more advantages over over-the-counter products. The dentist can tailor the treatment to suit the individual and address specific causes and types of discolouration, which ensures better and faster results.

Plus, professional products maximise whitening efficacy while simultaneously minimising tooth sensitivity.

Is the tooth whitening procedure safe?

Before beginning your tooth whitening treatment, you must consult the dentist to determine the health of your gums and teeth. This oral assessment will examine your viability for treatment and which tooth whitening brands will work best for your smile.

The fact that any professional tooth whitening system is managed and under a dentist’s guidance ensures your smile’s safety and survival. Other than that, to further reassure you, the whitening brands we use are safe, have been used by millions, and have been extensively studied for their efficacy. Philips Zoom Whitening Procedure

Patients can choose between Philips Zoom! Whitening In Surgery treatment, or Philips Zoom! Whitening Kits. Alternatively, patients can combine the two treatments for optimal results.

Patients will be invited into the clinic for the in-surgery whitening treatment, where the dentist hand paints the whitening agent onto their teeth and cures them with a special lamp. The at-home whitening kit is even more straightforward; patients must wear their whitening trays overnight for seven days. Learn more.

Enlighten Evolution Whitening Procedure

The Enlighten Evolution solution is like Philips in that patients can choose from in-clinic applications to at-home treatment kits. You’ll be required to wear the gradual whitening trays for longer with the Enlighten Evolution kit, where the total wear time is two weeks.

You’ll put the gel in your whitening tray every night for fourteen nights and then have a follow-up with the dentist once the at-home treatment has ended. We will give you an extra-strong booster treatment during this appointment to achieve an even brighter outcome.
