Replacement options: which retainer is right for you?
We offer four types of retainer, and a replacement does not have to match the one you lost. Each is described under retainers, and our clear retainers made from the same digital data as Invisalign aligners are covered under Vivera retainers.
| Retainer | What it is | Worth thinking about |
|---|---|---|
| Clear removable retainer | A removable retainer that covers all the surfaces of the teeth | Easy to take out for eating and cleaning, so also the type most easily lost |
| Base plate retainer | A removable upper retainer with a plate across the palate and a wire across the front | Sturdy, but with more parts that can bend or snap |
| Fixed wire retainer | A wire bonded behind the front teeth that cannot be taken out | Nothing to lose, but a loose or snapped wire needs to be seen |
| Vivera retainer | A removable clear retainer supplied in three sets | Spare sets in hand can help if one is lost or damaged |
Some people choose a fixed retainer together with a removable one, and we consider a combination of the two an ideal option. If your braces or aligners were done elsewhere, or a long time ago, you are welcome to book and tell us your history.
